Can I open the door manually until the spring is replaced?
No. With the counterbalance gone the door is carrying its full weight on cables and brackets that were never sized for it. Lifting it by hand risks it dropping, and running the opener risks damage to the drive as well as to the door. Leave it closed, park outside if you need to, and keep the area clear.
How long does a spring replacement take?
